So what's it like?
Ellmau is set in a wide valley between two fantastic mountain ranges. To the north the awe-inspiring Wilder Kaiser range dwarfs the village, while the lush green meadows and the peaks of the Kitzbüheler Alps rise to the south. The village has a friendly atmosphere, with a small selection of lovely shops and inviting cafés as well as a wide choice of activities to keep even the most active holidaymaker occupied. A 'must' during your stay is a ride on Austria's longest funicular railway, to enjoy the fabulous views from the top of the Hartkaiser mountain.

There is a regular bus service to St. Johann and Söll, whilst the FREE "Kaiserjet" shuttle service connects Ellmau with the neighbouring villages of Scheffau, Going and Söll.
Highlights
There is lots to see and do in and around Ellmau. Ellmau has a fantastic leisure complex with indoor/outdoor pool, saunas, play areas and tennis and squash. The Badesee bathing lake in nearby Going is another popular place for swimming, as is the stunning Hintersteinersee near Scheffau and the Panoramabad in Söll. Families have a great range of attractions to visit. In Ellmau there is Ellmi's play area with fun park and nature trails at the top of the Hartkaiserbahn. You can also visit the small children's zoo near Going, the Kaiserwelt children's fun park near Scheffau and the Hexenwasser magic water-world near Söll. There is a variety of well marked cycle trails to explore and you can even take your bike on some of the summer lifts. Alternatively, your guest card will give you FREE travel between Ellmau, Scheffau, Going and other nearby resorts with the Kaiserjet shuttle (mid-June to Sept).
Twin centre suggestion
Why not try a twin centre combining 7 nights at the lovely Hotel Alpenhof in Ellmau with a stay in the Austrian lakes at the Hotel Post in St. Gilgen. Alternatively opt for a city add-on of 3 or 4 nights in Vienna or Salzburg.
