So what's it like?
Within the boundaries of the Hohe Tauern National Park - Kaprun, set at the foot of the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, is an ideal destination for active people. The 12th century Burg fortress overlooks the village while a crystal-clear river runs through it - and there’s a fine range of shops and cafés too. Plus there’s outstanding leisure and sports facilities including the modern Tauern Spa – a must visit for spa lovers. Look out for hotels which include a free Zell am See-Kaprun Summer Card.
Relax and discover
Local culture: Visit the 12th century castle - a landmark in Kaprun and one of the oldest in the region. It regularly hosts cultural events throughout the summer.
Adventure sports: Thrill-seekers should take a white knuckle ride rafting down the nearby River Salzach. For a different view of the mountains - head to the sky on a tandem paraglide. Or try canyoning to explore the Rauriserache Gorge up close.
Spa: Enjoy some well-earned rest, relaxation and pampering - Austrian style. The Tauern Spa is one of Central Europe’s largest and best spa facilities. The Spa & Water World is heavenly - splash around in the range of pools. Or get a little hot and steamy in the Sauna & Treatment World.
Summer card: The Zell am See-Kaprun Summer Card is available when staying at selected hotels. There’s a wide range of benefits to help you get the most out of the region including access to public lidos, boat trips and cable cars around the mountains.
Evening atmosphere: Kaprun tends to be fairly calm in the evenings, but there’s always a bar open offering live music and a great night out. Don't miss the regular events at the Burg Fortress. Take a taxi over to nearby Zell am See for a few more lively options.
Kaprun Discovery: Make the most of your time in Austria with the Kaprun Discovery package. Stay at the Hotel Antonius and enjoy trips to Austria’s highest waterfalls and Salzburg. You’ll also pop over the border to Berchtesgaden in Germany – home to Hitler’s famous Eagles’ Nest. Book before 29th of April 2015.

Twin centre suggestion
Why not try a twin centre combining 7 days in Kaprun, at the superb Hotel Sonnblick, with a 3 or 4 night stay in imperial Vienna, staying at the fabulous Holiday Inn Vienna City. Please note that Vienna must be taken as the first centre. Alternatively combine your stay in Kaprun with a stay in the Austrian lake district at St. Gilgen staying in the Parkhotel Billroth, a former imperial villa set in its own lakeside park. Transfer to your second centre is usually by coach or minibus and may be via the airport. Call us to book.
