Culture
Situated within the boundaries of the Hohe Tauern National Park and set at the foot of the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, Kaprun offers everything for the holidaymaker, including an attractive centre with lawns and fountains, a fine range of shops and cafés, plus outstanding leisure and sports facilities. A crystal-clear river runs through the village centre, and the 12th century Kapruner Burg fortress offers a variety of cultural events throughout the summer.

With activities from the relaxed to ones that get the adrenaline pumping, Kaprun has something to keep everyone busy. You can visit the sports centre with outdoor pool on a lazy day, or try your hand at rock-climbing and white water rafting if you feel a little more adventurous. For the thrill-seekers amongst you, the chance to fly through the air on a tandem paraglide or canyoning through the Rauriserache Gorge should not be missed.
If walking is more your thing, join the tourist office on their programme of free guided walks to discover and be amazed by the spectacular views on offer. Hikers should try the ridge walk from the Maiskogel to the foot the glacier which gives views of the Pinzgau like nowhere else.
To keep the kids busy, there’s horse trekking, family rafting trips and a mini-golf course or head over to Zell am See for plenty of activities both on and off the lake.Spa
You can enjoy some well-deserved rest, relaxation and pampering at the Tauern Spa. Discover the many highlights of this state-of-the-art spa which opened in November 2010. The Spa & Water World is heavenly for all you water-babies, splash around in the range of pools which vary in size and temperature or chill out in the salt water relax pool.
Get a little hot under the collar in the Sauna & Treatment World with saunas and steam rooms a plenty. If you want some luxury, you can also treat yourself to a relaxing massage in one of the 17 treatment rooms.
To get your heart pumping, try out the cardio zone in the Sports World or have a go at an aerobics class. Family World is perfect for keeping the kids amused – not only is there water-based fun, but a playground with sand pits and even an activity programme.
