So what's it like?
Achensee, or Lake Achen has been one of the Tirol's most popular holiday destinations for hundreds of years and is set against the striking backdrop of the Karwandel mountains. The village of Pertisau lies on the shore of the blue lake waters and has a lot to offer in the local area and further afield.
Relax and discover
Local culture: On the western banks of Lake Achensee is an enchanting village with a fascinating mixtures of modern and vulture. The emperor Maximilian loved to hunt in Pertisau, while you walk around the charming town you will see many signs of the past! Visit the Vitalberg Museum you'll learn plenty about origins of the town and mineral productions.
Walking: With over 450km of walking trails, Lake Achensee has walking for all abilities. Whether that be a gentle stroll around the lake or taking the cable car to the top of the mountain and admiring the beautiful views or follow one of the more challenging trails and be rewarded with a spectacular views all of the way! Watersports: The crystal clear waters of Achensee which reach a temperature of 22°C make are what make this area so beautiful and so popular with watersports. Kite surfing, windsurfing and sailing are all popular on the lake, or try diving and see if you can find the VW beatle and a Madonna statue hidden in the lake! Evening atmosphere: Pertisau has a quieter evening atmosphere however there are a selection of bars and restaurants available some until late if you want to sample some of the nightlife!Discount card
