So what's it like?
Walking
Walking in the Olympiaregion Seefeld can be as easy or difficult as you want to make it, from lakeside walks to high alpine trails. There's plenty of family friendly walks suitable for young and old alike. Discover three of Seefeld’s sparkling lakes as you wander through forest, meadows and alpine pasture to finish at Wildmoos Lake, after a well-earned rest at Lake Lottensee alpine hut.
For the more active and energetic, don't miss a hike up to the eastern summit of the unusually shaped Hohe Munde, which towers over the resort and offers gorgeous views of the 16km long Leutaschtal Valley. An afternoon in Seefeld isn’t complete without a ride on the Rosshütte funicular. Stop at the top for coffee and cake and to capture the panoramic views, before working off a few of those calories with a walk back into resort along a forest track. Why not try…- A gentle stroll along the Bee Path - stop off at the Bee Hotel to learn more about these creatures along the way
- A swim to the island in the middle of Lake Möserer See on the 3 Lakes Walk, one of the warmest lakes in the Tyrol
- Taking on the challenge of the Gehrenspitze – look out for chamois goats, eagles and marmots on this high mountain trail
Culture
For a taste of typical Austrian culture, you’ll struggle to find a better place than Seefeld. With summer concerts in abundance thanks to the local churches, you can surround yourself with the subtle sounds of brass band music as you sip schnapps and tuck in to platters of local meat and cheese at one of Seefeld’s many cafés and restaurants.
Take a wander to the Peace Bell, the largest bell in Tyrol which rings every day at 5pm and is heard for miles, or discover historical monuments and learn about local history on the cultural walk in Reith. The 90-year old Karwendel railway is a highlight and is still considered today as a masterpiece of engineering. The city of Innsbruck and fairytale castle of Neuschwanstein are just minutes away for that all important dose of history, or discover the differences between Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein on the 3 Country Alpine Tour. Why not try…- A taste of Tyrolean culture with an evening of thigh-slapping, yodelling and music. A stomach for alcohol will be required for the inevitable skulling that will ensue, if you let it!
- Treading the cobbled streets of Innsbruck, a visit to the ‘Sacher Café’ at the Imperial Palace is not to be missed
- Hopping over the border into Germany to discover the inspiration for Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang castles – ‘Mad’ King Ludwig’s Neuschwanstein Castle
