Relax and discover
Local culture: Take a step back in time and experience an idyllic Austrian lakeside village at its best. A horse and carriage ride is the best way to explore the surrounding area. The pilgrimage church is well worth a visit, dating from the 10th century and built by the Saint from who the village is named after.
Watersports: During the summer the Lake Wolfgang can reach temperatures of up to 24ºC, making it ideal for swimming as well as many other activities. There are places on the lakeside where motor boats, pedaloes, rowing boats can be hired and there are centres offering tubing and banana boat rides.A highlight for watersports enthusiasts is the water ski and wake board school at the Hotel Furian. Weddings: Romantic Mondsee is a wonderful place to marry - made famous by the film the 'Sound of Music'. Your wedding will be complemented perfectly by a holiday at the wonderful Im Weissen Rössl or Strandhotel Margaretha. Evening atmosphere: With a quieter atmosphere the centre of town is a relaxing place for a stroll on an evening or for something a bit different there are also regular concerts and performances in the village. There is a regular bus service to St. Gilgen (30 mins), a ferry to St. Gilgen (45 mins) and a bus to Bad Ischl (45 mins). The Schafberg mountain cog railway gives visitors an excellent view of the surrounding area.
