Secluded for many years surrounded by mountains and water, this charming fishing village was accessible by boat only until 1932. Now linked by road via the fantastic series of tunnels commissioned by Mussolini. This town has a magical feel to it that you will experience as you wonder around the rolling cobbled streets and explore the assortment of shops. Sample the locally made liqueur Limoncello or relax in a café with a latte macchiato by the picturesque harbour while you immerse yourself in Limone's history bursting with romantic myths and legends.
Why not try -- Take a walk along the lakeside bustling harbour, passing the bridge over a mountain stream and the World War 1 outposts of Canù. With views of the lake through the olive groves that are well worth a visit.
- Lemon trees were originally introduced to Limone in the 13th century by the monks. They now fill the terraces carved into the mountain providing an enchanting visit not to be missed. Lemons the size of melons and the chance for you to take some great holiday snaps of the town below as it curves out into the lake
- Enjoy the maze of cobbled streets bustling with shops open until late selling leather goods, spices, dried fruits and jewellery.
- Take yourself through the winding cobbled streets headed for the San Rocco Church on the hillside built in the 16th century. You can’t miss its distinctive onion bulb dome. Rewarded by the views of the town below you can also take some time out to go inside and admire the frescos.
