    Nestling on the eastern shore of Lake Garda at the foot of Monte Baldo, amidst olive groves and lush pine vegetation, lies the ancient town of Malcesine. Originally a sleepy fishing village, it is today a picturesque and animated resort with narrow cobbled streets winding down to a quaint little harbour.

    Local culture
    One of the easiest places to find is the castle. It has some of the most beautiful views over the lake and village from the top of the tower and there's also an excellent exhibition about the lake. For a spot of romance, take a sneak peak at one of the many weddings held in the castle every summer.

    Walking
    Tackle the majestic Monte Baldo, by foot if you're feeling rather energetic, or by cable car for a more relaxing route. As you ascend, the cable car gently rotates 360° for unrivalled views without interuption. Head out along the ridge for more impressive views of the village and enjoy some further walks from the top of the cable car, before heading back down. There's always the option of hiking back from the mid-station if you're not quite convinced about going from the top.

    Adventure sports
    Malcesine is a mountain bikers dream - get kitted up at the bike hire shop near the cable car before heading up to 1760m and embarcing on the ride of your life! Trails range from a 6 hour easy ride back to resort to the extreme route straight down.

    Start with an ice cream from the gelateria on Corso Garibaldi, if you're in luck they sometimes have a Gorgonzola flavour to try! Then head to the bars by the port or in Piazza Vittorio Emanualle to drink the Lake Garda favourite "Aperol Spritz" with the locals.

    Frequent ferry service to/from Limone and Riva and all resorts down to Desenzano.
