    Local culture
    A melting pot of cultures, Riva was once part of the Venetian and Austro-Hungarian empires before finally becoming part of Italy in 1918. Fortresses defending the town were built as early as 1124, churches and intricate architecture are intact and a delight to stumble upon.

    If you've not got time for a week long holiday, or just fancy a few extra days away, then our short breaks are the perfect choice. 3 and 4 night short breaks are available in Riva at the Hotel Astoria Park, Grand Hotel Liberty, Hotel Riva and the Hotel Mirage.

    Adventure sports
    For those who want to get their pulses racing, we have 3 fantastic packages pairing biking with windsurfing, dinghy sailing and kayaking. We recommend exploring the well marked local cycle paths leading you around vineyards, the Varone waterfalls and the village of Arco.

    Jam packed with walking routes for all levels, whether you want to hike up to the Chapel of St Barbara or take a leisurely walk along the Sarca river to Arco for a delicious Italian ice cream. Try a walk up to the Bastione fortress nestled at the foot of Mount Rocchetta for breathtaking views of Piazza Catena and the Apponale tower below.

    Glasses of Prosecco and ice creams are the order of the day in Riva, nothing beats relaxing on a warm summer evening, drink in hand as you watch the sun set. Those who want to party into the small hours will find plenty of late night bars popular with locals and tourists alike.

    Getting about

    Tucked away at the northern tip of the lake, Riva is linked to other lake resorts by the efficient system of lake ferries and hydrofoils or hire bikes and cycle to the resorts of Torbole and Arco. A regular bus service also serves the town.
