  • So what's it like?

    Walking

    An ideal spot for walking, the ski lifts are open in Selva from mid June to the end of September. Wander between the plentiful and well-stocked mountain restaurants, through alpine meadows blooming in a kaliedescope of colour. Wander along the Via Crucis, a balcony-like path running behind Selva, passing the ruined Wolkenstein castle - don't forget to visit the chapel of San Silvestro which hides some beautiful old frescos within its walls.

    Lake Garda Tour (Weds) from £29
    See the many beautiful lakeside towns and villages. Time to visit the exquisite little town of Sirmione with its medieval castle before driving up the western side of the lake to Limone. There are plenty of little cafes for your lunch stop in Limone, then board the steamer to cross the lake to Riva. the last stop is Malcesine before heading back home.

    Grand Dolomites Tour (Mon & Thurs) from £33
    Europe's most distinctive mountains tower high over the sparkling lakes. Visit the spectacular northern ranges with their quaint villages, breathtaking passes and pretty, flower-strewn meadows. No other excursion takes you to natural scenery as stunning.

    Selva is a great base for an active break. Head high up the Gardena pass on mountain bike trails with a local guide. Or admire those famous views whilst practicing your swing on the pitch and putt course. For the adrenaline junkies, there's a whole host of activities on offer, including canyoning, rafting and bungee jumping - all available through the local tourist office. Head down the valley to Ortisei for a splash about in the Mardolomit family adventure pool, or monkey about in the trees on the high ropes course.

    Why not try -

    • Donning your climbing gear and scrambling up Selva's own climbing wall, before trying out your skills at the many rock-climbing sites around the Sella rock.
    • Trotting round the stunning Suisi mountains and brushing up on your riding skills with one of the horse riding schools. If you fancy a more relaxing day with an equestrian twist, take a carriage ride with a picnic lunch thrown in.
    • Complete the Sella Ronda 'summer style', with a circuit of the rock on a bike - don't miss Sella Ronda bike day at the end of June.
