So what's it like?
Steeped in history and culture, the Taormina Riviera combines all of Sicily's best bits - fantastic beaches, stunning panoramic views, plenty of historic sites and loads to do. We've chosen the best resorts of Taormina, Taormina Mare and Giardini Naxos, each offering something a little different and giving an authentic slice of Sicilan life. Taormina sits proudly on the cliff top and is brimming with medieval character and spectacular panoramic views. The centre offers an array of shops, bars and restaurants, plus the bays of Taormina Mare are easily reached via the cable car which runs into the early hours. Taormina Mare is the bay area that sits below Taormina's cliff top town. The bays range from white sandy beaches to cobbled stoned coves and are perfect for relaxing or enjoying some fun on the water. Giardini Naxos is around 5km from Taormina and is all about the beach in the day and the bars a night. It's a great place for enjoying yourself and making the most of the sun.

Local culture: Rich in heritage, Taormina retains much of its medieval flavour and has many historic sites of interest - the Greek Amphitheatre and Church of San Domenico are a must see. Stroll along the main street of Corso Umberto, perfect for window shopping; enjoy the many festivals during the summer months; and marvel at the stunning panoramic views.
Beaches: Giardini Naxos is renowned for its beautiful sandy, well-kept beaches where many stylish cafés and restaurants line the beachfront. Taormina Mare's main beaches are in the Bay of Mazzaro and the Bay of Isola Bella, both easily reached by a panoramic cable car ride down from the old town. Eating out: Food is something the Sicilian's are very passionate about. Fresh fish is always on the menu and many dishes have been influenced from all around the Mediterranean and North Africa. A must is a famous 'Granita' crushed ice drink - the best are found at Bam Bar in Taormina Alta. Watersports: There are plenty of opportunities to indulge in watersports activities in both Taormina Mare and Giardini Naxos. The most popular include diving, snorkelling, and waterskiing. Head out on a relaxing sail boat or a luxurious speedboat trip for the day to explore the stunning coastline with its hidden caves and natural beauty. Evening atmosphere: Taormina is almost as bustling in the evening as it is during the daytime! Numerous bars, cafés and restaurants line the main street in Taormina, with more intimate restaurants hidden away in the quaint side streets. Giardini Naxos has a younger vibe with plently of late night bars and clubs.Important information
