Local culture
The Scaligero castle has a tower affording jaw droppingly beautiful views of Sirmione and the lake. From up here it is easy to see why Sirmione has been popular with tourists for centuries. One of the best examples of this is the Roman Grotto of Catullus, if you are starting from the castle the grotto is about 1km on foot, there is also a tourist train if you are feeling more lethargic. A speedboat trip around the peninsula is exhilarating and a great way to see Sirmione from a new perspective.

Evening atmosphere
A warm summer evening in Sirmione often starts with choosing your favourite flavour of ice cream from one of the numerous Gelaterie , leave plenty of time though as it will be a near impossible task, there are 100s to choose from! After joining in with the locals passeggiata up and down the resorts main street you should retire to one of the hotel bars for a nightcap, we recommend a classic Italian bitter such as Rabarbaro Zucca.
