    Relax and discover

    Local culture
Venice, the ‘sinking city’ which has inspired artists, writers and poets the world over, has plenty to offer on the culture front. It is a city preserved in time and still bears a remarkable resemblance to the works of Canneletto and his friends, which you can view in the Gallerie dell' Accademia. The maze of tiny side streets is a shopaholic’s haven. From tiny botteghe where you can buy traditional Carnevale masks, to workshops specialising in Venetian glassware, you’ll find plenty to bring home and remind you of your stay.

    Short breaks
Not only do our city breaks make the perfect additions to holidays on the lakes or in the Dolomites, they're also great as stand alone holidays with flights, transfers and accommodation included. 3, 4 and 7 night short breaks are available in Venice at the Hotel Monaco and Grand Canal, Hotel Malibran and the Hotel Do Pozzi.

    Evening atmosphere
In the early evening order a glass of ‘ombre’, it is white wine, but known by this name in the Veneto region because wine sellers had to move with the shadow of the bell tower in St Mark’s Square to keep their wares cool. As the sun sets stroll over the Rialto Bridge and browse the many shops and market stalls that line it. For dinner Venetian style it is all about eating on the go, make like a local, graze on various tapas-style cicheti dishes whilst perched on a stool in a bacaro.

    Getting about

The best way to explore Venice's winding alleyways is by foot. But there are many 'vaporetti', water buses, that run along the Grand Canal and also out to the fascinating islands of the Venetian Lagoon.

    Highlights

The 'sinking city' is bursting with historic culture and appears almost preserved in time. Made up of a maze of tiny side streets hiding tiny botteghe where you can buy traditional Carnevale masks, and intimate workshops creating beautiful pieces from local Murano glass. An alternate and iconic way to travel in the City of Romance on the water. Soak up the traditional gondola ride or for a speedier journey go for a ride in one of the many water taxis.

    Other information

    · Take an unforgettable gondola ride along the Grand Canal, the most distinctive high street in the world.
    · Climb the bell tower in St Mark's Square and admire the cobweb of canals, alleys and bridges of Venice froma bird's ey view.
    · Explore Venice's islands, famous for their handicrafts - Murano for hand-blown glass and Burano for intricate lace.

    Short Breaks

If you want a taste of life in one of Italy's great cities you can either add a stay to your existing holiday or book a standalone trip including flights, transfers and accommodation. In Venice we have three, four and seven night short breaks available at the Hotel Monaco and Grand Canal, Hotel Malibran and the Hotel Do Pozzi.

    Twin centre suggestion

Why not combine a stay at the Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal in Venice with a stay at the Hotel Regina Adelaide in Garda, creating a fantastic blend lake side luxury and Venetian grandeur. Transfer to your second centre by coach or minibus which may be via Verona Airport.
