An unforgettable experience of Norway’s awe-inspiring fjords, mountains, glaciers and lakes on a spectacular 7-day tour The beauty of Norway lies in its unspoiled landscapes and natural splendour, ranging from serene lakes to the awe-inspiring fjords. The scenery is quite different to that in the Alps, but equally spectacular. Norway is rich in history and cultural heritage, complemented by the genuine hospitality of your Scandinavian hosts. Together with our good friends. the Skrede family of the Skei Hotel in Jølster, we have created a unique holiday experience that will give you the chance to enjoy the some most famous sights in Norway. Our exclusive tour combines a stay in the wonderful town of Bergen with the splendid Norway in a Nutshell tour, visits to the most famous fjords, Sognefjord, Geiranger and Nordfjord, the largest glacier in Europe, Jostedalsbreen and the magnificent Lake Jølster region, home to the Skei Hotel.
Tour itinerary
Day 1 (Sunday) Bergen
Day 2 (Monday) Bergen - Lavik - Skei
Coach/mini-bus transfer to Bergen Hotel.
Free morning to explore the 900 year old UNESCO World Heritage city of Bergen, including the Edvard Grieg house. Or, join our optional 3 hr guided tour of the city (approx. £35). Included excursion: Coastal cruise through beautiful landscapes to Lavik, on Sognefjord, the largest fjord in Norway. Coach tour through the mountains to Skei on Lake Jølster. Day 3 (Tuesday) Skei - Fjaerland/ Glaciers Tour
Optional excursion to Fjaerland (approx. £40), which includes a stop at the 8th book town in the world, a visit to the award winning Glacier Museum and stop for afternoon tea at Bøyum Glacier, the fastest moving arm of the largest glacier in mainland Europe. Or, you can use your free time to explore Skei and enjoy all the hotel’s facilities. Day 4 (Wednesday) Skei - Geiranger
Included excursion: Take a scenic tour through mountains and along the coastline to Hellesylt where you will join an hour’s cruise along the spectacular Geirangerfjord, voted No. 1 UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005, passing numerous stunning waterfalls on the way. Day 5 (Thursday) Skei - Briksdal
Optional excursion to the Briksdal glacier (approx. £54), part of Europe’s largest glacier, Jostedalsbreen (487km2). Take a walk, or troll bus, through the magnificent National Park to the base of this stunning glacier and peaceful glacial lake, past many beautiful waterfalls along the way. Day 6 (Friday) Skei – Sandane
Optional excursion to Sandane and Nordfjord Folk Museum (approx. £42) Visit the Gimmestad Church dating back to 1692, the 33m high Eidsfossen waterfall and a trip to the Norwegian Horse centre. After dinner coffee will be served in the 260 year old Gamelstova cottage this evening, with the possibility of hearing some old folk tales. Day 7 (Saturday) Skei - Norway in a Nutshell - Bergen
Included excursion: Over the Gauler Mountain to Balestrand, then ‘Norway in a Nutshell’ tour, including a cruise along the Sognefjord to Flåm, then an awe inspiring journey on the Flåm Railway, one of the steepest non-funicular railways in the world, spiralling up 866m, and completed with a train journey back to Bergen. Day 8 (Sunday) Bergen

Olden and the Briksdal glacier (day 5) enjoy a journey back to Nordfjord via the Utvik mountain and then on to the little village of Olden (approx. £54). From Olden a 20km drive along the magnificent Olden valley brings you to the Briksdal glacier - part of Europe's largest glacier, Jostedalsbreen (487 sq. kms). Sandane & Nordfjord Folk Museum (day 6). From Skei you will head to Klakegg, through the scenic Våtedal Valley to Breim and Sandane (approx. £42). On the way you pass the thundering Eidsfossen falls and stop at the Nordfjord Folk Museum. You will also visit the Gimmestad church which dates back to 1692. On the return journey you will make a stop at Reed to admire the wonderful views of the Breim Lake and then visit the Norwegian Horse centre and Byrkjelo. FREE Fjaerland / Glaciers Excursion when you book both the Briksdal excursion (approx. £54) and the Sandane & Nordfjord Folk Museum, (approx. £42). All excursions must be booked locally on arrival.
Guided tour of the city - (day 2: 3 hrs) approx. £35
Fjaerland and glaciers (day 3) This tour takes you on a scenic drive along Lake Jølster and past the Bøyumsdal glacier to the small rural community of Fjaerland (approx. £40). You will visit to the fascinating Norwegian Glacier Museum and then continue via the Supphelle glacier, unique for it's amazingly low altitude (only 51m above sea level). Mid afternoon you'll make a stop for afternoon tea at the Boyum Glacier.Special offers
