    Zakopane is on the edge of the Tatras National Park with its deep green pine forests, mountain springs and alpine meadows with an abundance of flowers. As you enter the park there are plenty of well marked hiking and walking trails to choose from. For a full days hike, trek up to the rocky summits, close to the 'Sleeping Giant' - the famous rock formation that towers above Zakopane.
    For a relaxing stroll, soak up the sunshine as you wander through the main street of Zakopane, before taking the funicular to the top of Gubalów hill. The walk along the ridge towards the chairlift has some spectacular views of Zakopane, which you'll fully appreciate on the chairlift back down.

    Culture

    The depth of history and culture in Zakopane is sure to excite. Explore the traditions of Zakopane and highland folk culture in the Tatras Folk Centre and the Museum of Zakopane Style. Delve into the works of some of Poland's most prominent artists at the Kulczycki Art Gallery. Learn more about the fascinating flora and fauna of the region in the Natural History Museum.

    Keep an eye out for some bargains in the markets of Zakopane. Sheepskin slippers and hand carved toys make for the perfect authentic presents. And are certain to put a smile on their recipients' faces.

    Krakow is a vibrant city and is well worth visiting. Have lunch in an alfresco café as you soak up the atmosphere of the central medieval square. Visit the Royal Castle on Wawel Hill and take a carriage ride through the Old Town to admire the beautifully preserved baroque buildings.
