So what's it like?
Montreux, on the sunny side of Lake Geneva, enjoys a wonderful climate. Surrounded by vineyard clad hills and snow-capped peaks it's a cosmopolitan town renowned for its jazz festival, lakeside promenade and the famous Chillon Castle. Steamers chug from port to port and add to Montreux's lakeside ambiance.

Relax and discover
Fun on the water: Lake Geneva is one of the largest bodys of water in Europe and a great lake for a day cruise. There are some relaxing lidos around the lake and the crystal clear water is perfect for a refreshing dip.
Local Culture: Montreux has a cosmopolitan feel, the warm climate makes the lakeside a popular place to be. Music is also important, as well as its yearly jazz festival, a number of artists have recorded here. There is a statue of Freddie Mercury on the lakeside and Deep Purple wrote the song 'Smoke on the Water' about a fire which devasted Montreux's casino.
Walking: Whether strolling along the promenade or wandering around the town admiring its architecture, exploring Montreux is never dull. Montreux Riviera boasts a wonderful lakeside walk starting in Villeneuve passing through Montreux and going all the way to Vevey.
